Review: Ronald Gottlieb

Very humorous in a silly sense, "Ronald Gottlieb" does a very good job of making you laugh while simultaneously scratching your head. The title character is just a simple barista looking for love in a world that discriminates against. Unfortunately for Ronald, he lives in a time where thick hairy legs, on both men and women, is considered attractive, and our protagonist is stuck with his hairless stork legs. In an attempt to woo a girl, Ronald decides to look into an experimental hair growth treatment; however, little does Ronald realize that the side effects are much more severe than he could have imagined. The decision to create animated characters over photography backgrounds works very well. The script is very silly but is entertaining, especially in how it is filmed as a documentary of Ronald's confused life. "Ronald Gottlieb" is an official selection of the New York City Independent Film Festival and will be shown at the festival on October 12-18, 2015.
