“Cubism: Outside the Box” is a captivating video with an important message to tell. The video features heartbreaking clips and pictures about the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases, paired with shots of different people echoing the words of the singers: "I've been spending more time reading people than I've been reading books".
As the video continues we see the many images on the screen begin to blend as the force of the spoken words intensifies. The clips and images of these cases transform into images of protest and solidarity, reminding us that unity is vital in promoting social justice in the world. “Cubism: Outside the Box” helps clearly portray this message in its video, through the use of visual imagery and the repeated lyrics above.
In a time where people are turned against one another and instances of racially charged hate crimes seem to be happening more frequently, it is both refreshing and inspiring to see a music video that urges harmony, empathy and acceptance. “Cubism: Outside the Box” is an official selection of the New York City Independent Film Festival and will be shown at the festival on October 12-18, 2015
