Neha Gautam’s eye-opening film Chosen Family features interviews with five women living in a Queer-friendly home in New York City as well as other relevant interviews with people active in the LGBT community. What’s most striking about Gautam’s film is the relatability of all the personalities introduced to the viewer. Each woman, while speaking about their personal lives, are secure in themselves and their image. Through their charm and self-assuredness, they invite the viewer to listen to their struggles and respect them for it. These women present the importance of safety and acceptance in their personal and professional lives, all while seeming to be your friendly next door neighbors in Queens, NY.
Chosen Family is an Official Selection for the New York City Independent Film Festival
