Can love sustain even after a devastating loss? Can a couple co-exist harmoniously when being together only conjures up painful memories? These are the questions that Adam and Rachel Harris are forced to deal with following the tragic and sudden loss of their only child. As Rachel valiantly attempts to press forward with a life beyond her husband, Adam struggles to accept a life without his son and now his wife, convinced that they must cope and grieve together. Following the crippling loss, Adam refuses or possibly cannot exist alone without his wife, thereby staking out her new place of residence just to steal an occasional glimpse of his wife. While Adam has fallen apart, Rachel seems to be thriving as best as she could. Adam attempts to sell the house, expunging every memory of his horrifying past, but is not impervious to resorting to watching footage of his wedding video alone in his house. After several attempts to reconcile are rebuffed by Rachel, Adam makes one last plea to his once devoted wife. Rachel remains steadfast in her desire to move on alone at her own pace, leaving Adam to contemplate the very realistic possibility of spending the rest of his life mired in self-loathing for the loss of his son and wife, hoping that his self-loathing will not lead to a more dire, finite decision.
