Look Who's Minding Our Planet (United States | 2016, 13 min)

Directed by: Sara Lukinson

“Look Who’s Minding Our Planet” is a short, lyrical film that captures both the beauty of nature at the New York Botanical Garden and the dedicated, impassioned scientists and aspiring interns who work behind the scenes to understand and uncover the secrets of the entire plant world.

Their aim, to help preserve our natural world under climate change. They work in remote corners of the world and at a state-of –the-art lab in a corner of the Bronx. The Cullman Program for Molecular Systematics, made possible by a spirited philanthropist who wants to help save the world, has proved to be a model followed by many research institutes around the world.

One comes away with a renewed sense of beauty and respect for the natural world all around us. But also a great sense of admiration and gratitude for those who work in the minutest details, with no road map, over years and years, to add a fraction of knowledge that may just help save the planet. And the young people who intern there who aspire to make a difference.
