Francis Michalek is a 93 year old woman living with Alzheimer’s Disease. She cannot speak, and relies on the care of others to feed and bathe her. Without the agency of verbal communication, A Life Imagined bridges the gap between the present life of Frances in her nursing home and her past through the juxtaposition of Super 8 mm film and HD video. The film employs minimal dialogue, relying on atmosphere to to connect Frances with the audience. Supported by a minimal score and a strong sound design, the film allows one to breathe and be with Frances for ten fragile minutes.
