Interview by: Megan Boyle, Short Sketch Comedy Curator

Q: How did you come up with your sketch idea and what sort of truths were
you hoping to touch on with this sketch?
The idea for the sketch was based on a joke in an older video project, “Life of a Struggling Artist.” The point was to satirize the cult of Apple and the lifestyle that can result from sticking too close to the precepts of the company. In this sketch, Henry, the main character, is trying so hard to use as many shortcuts as possible that he hasn’t clicked one single time in seven years.

Q: What dictated your choices in how you filmed your sketch?
Most of the choices stemmed from the visual language of documentaries and
exposés. We wanted it to feel real, which it did, because it (bafflingly) fooled a lot of people on Reddit!

Q: What hurdles did you face while making this sketch?
The main challenge in this sketch was the aforementioned authenticity. We
wanted the presence of the Apple employees to feel real, but were limited in our ability to film and showcase the actual retail stores. Also, many brave keyboard-shortcut jokes were left on the cutting room floor, alongside a lot of noodles that Sam had to eat.

Q: Do you have any plans for sequels or additional sketches surrounding
these characters/themes?
Yes! Another sketch was written for this character and there are several more in the works.
