Q: What’s your background & how did you get started?
So I have been a professional actor for over 10yrs. I have acted in film, TV, off-broadway, off-off broadway, church attics, community center basements, and more. I started by doing. Anywhere, Anytime.
Q: What inspires you to create?
I am inspired by my friends and I create projects for them. I write with specific people in mind. In addition I write about things I am very charged about. Things that I can't stop thinking about.
Q: What advice do you have for indie creators on a budget?
Don't wait. Don't wait for anyone to give you permission to make your project. Also don't worry about whether someone will like you or your project. Focus on the execution. Too many people don't start because of the 'what ifs'. You can't be afraid to fail. If 'money' is holding you back don't write expensive things into your script. Write with friends in mind and locations and resources that you can get for free or barter or trade and ask favors instead of paying people. In addition a creator who is versatile and can wear many hats can save. On Man-Babies I was the director-writer-producer-actor-grip-gaff-truckdriver-book keeper-social marketer-grant writer -location scout- pitch deck writer- digital artist and more... Everyone has a cell phone with a camera and a FREE online distribution platform called YOUTUBE now it is cheaper than ever to get your work out there.
Q: What makes your project special? MAN-BABIES was birthed from a lot of anxiety around having a child and coming to term(s) with adulthood. It is a farcical, pure comedy, and very serious telling of the the story of the worlds first pregnant man. It is written in a style of comedy we don't see anymore akin to caddyshack, the naked gun, Ace Ventura, Austin Powers. A lot of fun! This odd story is actually an outsiders tale about fitting in when the status quo rejects you. In our post #metoo world the series takes the laser of comedy to gender norms and the pov is from the least likely of outsiders; a privileged white, heterosexual, pregnant man. In addition the series takes a very critical look at social media, technology, and the current world we live in. Most of the unbiased facts in the show were found on the internet.
Man-Babies is an Official Selection of the 2018 NYC Independent Film Festival.
