This panel discusses different options filmmakers have for distributing indie projects. New, alternative strategies and the standard distribution model will be explored. Jordan Gaches will moderate.
Jordan Gaches (Actor, NYC Indie Film Festival PR Consultant)
Jordan is an actor and PR Consultant for the festival. He studies with Bob Krakower’s studio (shout-out to Vance Barber) and has fun shooting shorts with local filmmakers. Dan Gurlitz (Founder, Soundview Media Partners)
Specializing in the distribution of documentaries and independent features, Dan Gurlitz owns and operates Soundview Media Partners, a boutique firm he launched in 2010 with the primary mission of working with independent filmmakers to establish and/or expand the distribution of their work. Soundview also handles educational and non-theatrical licensing directly.
With 35 years of experience in film distribution, Dan has held executive positions for such companies as Entertainment One, The Disinformation Company and Fox Lorber Associates. Coupling his distribution knowledge with his passion for independent film, Soundview's projects range broadly touching upon politics, social issues, music, military, history, art/architecture and just plain entertainment. Since launching Soundview, Dan has placed over 500 films into broad-based distribution pipelines.
Soundview projects include the Emmy Award Winning Journey of the Universe, and such critically acclaimed films as Blackhearts, Doctors of the Dark Side, Better Things: The Life and Choices of Jeffrey Catherine Jones, Art House, Of the Land, Of Oozies and Elephants. and Christiania. Drew Robinson, Stonestreet Studios Editor/Distribution Manager
Drew Robinson is the Distribution Manager and a full-time editor at Stonestreet Studios in Chelsea. He specializes in post-production, managing media work flow, and independent film distribution. His edited work has been seen on television and in film festivals across the country and abroad. Drew continues to work on independent film projects, podcasts, and animation in his free time.
